The Minerva Fund helps the FoM Give Voice to the Past with a $50,000 Gift!
March 15, 2025
The Friends of Morgantina is thrilled to announce a ground-breaking $50,000 gift from the Minerva Fund*, dedicated to supporting the essential work of publishing the results of archaeological fieldwork at Morgantina. Since 1955, the American Excavations at Morgantina (AEM) have uncovered a wealth of material that has deepened our understanding of ancient Sicily, and this new fund ensures that important research from the site continues to reach scholarly and public audiences. Individuals working on AEM-approved publication projects are eligible to apply for grants—typically $5,000 or less—to help cover expenses such as professional illustration or photography, scientific analyses, copyediting, or publisher subventions.
We at the Friends of Morgantina are especially excited about this opportunity to strengthen our support for scholars working to share Morgantina’s archaeology with the world. In the field of archaeology, securing funding for publication can often be a major hurdle—yet it is a critical step in preserving the legacy of excavation and making new knowledge accessible for future generations. This gift from the Minerva Fund helps ensure that the stories uncovered at Morgantina are not left in the archives but brought to light through rigorous, well-produced publications that enrich our understanding of ancient Sicily and the wider Mediterranean world.
